National Poll Shows Science a Voting Priority

Nobel Laureates, Scientists and Engineers Pressure Candidates to Focus On Science and Technology

Washington, DC – On Wednesday, July 2nd Scientists and Engineers for America will release a national poll that shows voters support candidates who are committed to advancing science and technology on a range of top-tier election issues. According to the poll, voters place a significant amount of importance on science-based public policy decisions to solve problems we face today, like global warming, energy, and health care.

The poll is part of a recently launched campaign by Scientists and Engineers for America, Science Debate 2008, and a coalition of America’s major scientific societies that highlights the importance of science in the elections this fall. The coalition has issued a series of science-based questions to candidates running for office to be displayed on the SHARP Network, an online resource for the public.  Information on the candidates and their responses can be found at SHARP.SEforA.org/Innovation2008/.
